Best Relaxing Coffee Spaces in Palm Springs

The history of coffee goes back over 11 centuries, having first been consumed in Yemen then spreading through the middle east, Persia, Turkey and Africa before further expansion into the Balkans, Italy and the rest of Europe by the 16th century. Coffee shops have been historically social places where discussions over a cup of java included a range of topics from art, literature, music, politics and news. Coffee shops can be ubiquitous in many larger cities. Although there are the big chain coffee houses, many people still seek out the small “Mom & Pop” coffee shops to get a true local experience. Here is our list of our favorite coffee houses in Palm Springs, California.

Koffi

Koffi is a great place to connect with the community over a cup of freshly roasted goodness. Now with two locations, the Original Koffi located in the Uptown Design District at 515 N Palm Canyon Dr. is a short 15 minute walk from POSH Palm Springs Inn and is our favorite location.  The comfortable courtyard has Mount San Jacinto as a majestic backdrop for furry friends to frolic on the lawn. This Koffi location is a preferred gathering spot for locals, and an oasis for visitors. Koffi reflects the natural harmony unique to Palm Springs with a vibrant energy surrounded by the ageless sanctuary of nature. All the pastries are baked fresh in-house daily and include scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls and cookies. Koffi is open daily from 6 am until 6 pm.

Ernest Coffee

Ernest Coffee, the only local coffee shop serving Stumptown Coffee, is named after Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt, the founding father of tiki restaurants and bars. Located at 1101 North Palm Canyon Drive in the former location of Don the Beachcomber tiki restaurant, the original tiki torches still stand tall above the front door creating a vibrant, inspired space for people to come together and have a great time. Ernest Coffee offers Stumptown Coffee, fresh pastries and quiche baked local every day, including gluten-free options. as well as soy, almond and coconut milk as dairy alternatives. The shop has an open airy space or catch some rays on the south facing patio boasting some amazing mountain views. Ernest Coffee is open from 6 am until 7 pm seven days a week.

Ristretto

Ristretto is located in Downtown Palm Springs in the 500 Building (500 S Palm Canyon Drive). Meet friends or conduct business in upscale comfort complete with free Wi-Fi and indoor or patio seating. The patio is pet friendly and there are misters to keep you comfortable in the warm California sunshine. Ristretto’s menu includes an extensive selection of coffees, teas, Italian sodas and smoothies to imbibe while you can snack on an assortment of freshly baked muffins, scones, bagels and freshly prepared sandwiches and salads. Ristretto is open daily from 6 am until 6 pm.
